Recently the nobel price for the year 2016 was warded to men who have distinguished themselves in their various academic endeavor and field to salvage the various problems and calamity befalling the human race, basically I believe that all humans have a very important role to play in the world today no matter how little your contribution may be, I remember one of the very inspiring definition of education by one of my revered professor of law university of Lagos, she said education is about learning new things, unlearning bad things and relearning, but I think education may not be said to be useful if man does not use his knowledge and profession to develop his immediate environment. This goes down in the root of what the Nobel awards have been doing over the years,to celebrate these men who have put in so much hardwork, time and passion to solving problems that will help change the world and make it a better place with the requisite education, skill and knowledge they have acquired. The Nobel price in chemistry was jointly awarded to Jean-pierre Sauvage, sir J. Fraser Stoddart, and Bernard L. Feringer for the design and synthesis of molecular machines not out of pistons or gears but from mere molecules this is nothing short of an extraordinary feat made possible by mortal men, I am not a scientist neither am I grounded in this aspect of this writeup but common knowledge and Google made me understand that a molecule is an electrically neutral group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds which can only be visible to the human eyes only by using a microscope, I need not go into the deep scientific explanation without creating a scientific tsunami but permit me to rely on that basic knowledge. These molecular machine may be in form of an elevator, even cars a few nanometer long, these machines could one day prove quite versatile, allowing scientist to develop artificial switches to release targeted drugs and develop new ways to store energy. This discovery and scientific milestone have opened frontiers to many opportunities all over the world in finding the cure to many deadly diseases in the world like diabetics and cancer. Coming down to Nigeria with enormous potentials and a vibrant youthful populace, and with all profound respect to our wise men of the various ivory towers I would say the educational system has failed to deliver on this basic benefit of our schools not impacting on Nigeria ,it is not because we lack the brilliant scholars or the wonderful and ever hardworking, serious minded, or passion driven students but the system set up by government at all level,we all know what the society demands from us when we graduate from school, simply to get a well paying job and help your siblings family, and the community at large permit me to state that there is no wrong in doing that, but this has shown a monumental digression from what education entails nonetheless. You will all agree with me that Nigeria and the black race has totally gotten it wrong and it is clearly a dichotomy between this two societies. The western countries have a system that place much importance on education and its benefits to the society to keep the world going, meanwhile in Nigeria that is the opposite where government has intentionally crippled this sector and have set up policies that aims to impoverish it people intellectually,we all know the reason why a little fraction of people in government deprive people of quality education, because if you educate a mind,he will ask questions and consequently act, clearly government would not want its citizen to be asking vital question, the conspiracy has always helped the ruling class to restrict the ruled and resorting to God,you will hear statements like “ god dey see them”,”god dey”, “god go fight for us” importantly people have resorted to religious and supernatural intervention which may never come. Against this backdrop it is very important that we start building our society the right way, even if we start from the basics a.
