The Bermuda Triangle is one of the great unsolved mysteries of the world, a section of the ocean in the western North Atlantic where ships and aircrafts have disappeared under deeply suspicious circumstances. Included in this list is the infamous “Flight 19”, a group of 5 bombers who went on a routine training exercise in 1945 and never returned, as well as the search and rescue plane that went looking for them the same day. There is also
the case of the USSCyclops , a US Navy boat that disappeared in 1918 with all 309 crew on board as well as the Connemara IV , a pleasure
yacht, found adrift in 1955 with all the crew missing............. There is truly a mysterious attachment to this partitioned area swallowing up hundreds of ships and boats as well as aircrafts flying over this area. They have all mysteriously disappeared with no trace of the vessel and crew men and the aircrafts and its crews most times...........by my research I found out that hundreds of ships, boats and aircraft have mysteriously disappeared and its members unaccounted for....It is time, I think that the world should demystify some of these mysteries especially this one, by deploying the necessary technology to explain this damning phenomenon and hopefully having an answer at the end. In the Nigerian case our only succour is prayers as we always do, which earned us a position in the religious circles as one of the most religious people on earth, with really nothing to show for it, if being religious makes a country better then the proclamation of Nigeria as a religious country without gainsaying would have placed the country in an accomplished state of euphoria. The Nigerian state is a Bermuda on its on, It has been steady in swallowing people's destiny forever, which makes Nigeria a mystery on its own......so wikipedia must have erred in not listing Nigeria as a mystery...........we have millions of lost destinies and rotten dilapidated nation machinery in the Nigerian Bermuda, what can be worse than this Bermuda where humongous wealth vanish into thin air e.g "when the past CBN governor accused the GEJ administration of stealing over 20 billion dollars, and GEJ responded by saying that America will know if their currency is missing with comments like this from the president of a country, please show me a Bermuda worse than this...........THE NIGERIAN BERMUDA part 2 coming soon.

MANCHESTER UNITED V ARSENAL
I think it was a fantastic match played out today between man united and arsenal, with pogba bringing on his phenomena flare and style to the game and rashford playing deep in the arsenal half, the back line of united in Valencia, Jones,Dojo and Damian, but all in all I think once again Carrick has shown that he is the key to unleashing Pogba. Even if Arsenal scored a late equalizer, I think the United team will succeed. BE CAREFUL AS PLASTIC RICE FLOODS NIGERIAN MARKET
Reports indicate that China produces fake rice which is mixed with plastic for exportation to African countries including Nigeria.
China has a history of making fake food items and the fake rice phenomenon has been there for a while. A reputable English-language newspaper in Korea, The Korea Times, reported that “ China famous for having all, making all, has
now been reported to have made rice out of plastic and has distributed it. ” The ‘plastic rice’ is reportedly made by forming potatoes and sweet potatoes into
regular rice grains shape, then adding industrial synthetic resins. It remains hard after cooking and can cause serious health issues.
Experts have raised the alarm of possible flooding of the Nigerian market with the ‘plastic rice’.
As Christmas draws close, a lot of people will be getting bags of rice from their employers, friends and well-wishers. You can determine if your rice is fake by carrying out any of the simple tests below.
1. The mortar and pestle test
When molding a few grains of rice with a mortar and pestle, if the powder gives a quite white colour, you are good to go but it has a yellow discoloration, your rice must be fake.
2. The fire test You know what plastic smells like right. So, get a lighter and burn a handful of rice. If it catches fire and smells like burnt plastic, you have fake rice.
3. The water test
Get a glass of cold water. Pour a tablespoon of raw rice in the glass and stir. If the rice goes to the bottom, it is all good. If it floats
at the top, be careful because it means it contains ‘plastic rice’. Do not eat.
4. The mold test
Boil the rice. Leave it in a warm place for like 2-3 days. If mold does not appear in a few days, your rice is fake and should not be consumed. It will not get mold because plastic is not affected by the weather or temperature.
5. The boiling test
Observe the rice while boiling. If it starts forming a thick layer at the top of the pot, it is ‘plastic rice’.
6. The hot oil test
Just take some of the rice drop into some real hot oil. If it is plastic, it will melt or stick together or stick at the bottom of the pan. Share these tips with your friends and family
so they do not end up eating ‘plastic rice’. These tests are very simple. Do not eat plastic rice, be careful.

NASA’s Flying Observatory Expanding New Frontiers in the Solar System and Beyond.
NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for
Infrared Astronomy, SOFIA, will soon be
studying Neptune’s giant moon, Triton,
and following-up on Hubble’s recent
sighting of water plumes on Jupiter’s
moon Europa . According to recently
completed plans for the 2017 observing
campaign, about half of the research
time for SOFIA will run the gamut from
studies of planets to observations of
comets and asteroids orbiting other stars
and supermassive black holes in the
centers of galaxies beyond our own. The
other half will focus on star formation
and the interstellar medium, the areas of
dust and gas in the universe, including a
vast turbulent region encircling the
center of our Milky Way galaxy.

image of the Milky Way Galaxy's nucleus
showing the Circumnuclear Ring of gas
and dust clouds orbiting a central
supermassive black hole. Figure 1b:
Hubble Space Telescope/Near Infrared
Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer
(NICMOS) near-infrared image showing
the same field of view with the same
scale and orientation as Figure 1a. At
this wavelength, opaque dust in the
plane of the Milky Way hides features
that are seen in the SOFIA image.

A total of 535 observing hours have been
awarded for SOFIA’s Science Cycle 5,
which runs from February 2017 through
January 2018, and the selected
programs span the entire field of
astronomy from planetary science to
extragalactic investigations. Triton, only
one-third of a light year from Earth, will
be one of the closest objects studied by
NASA’s flying observatory while the
farthest observation will study a
supermassive black hole approximately
12 billion light years away.
SOFIA is a is a joint program between
NASA and the German Aerospace Center
and is a Boeing 747SP jetliner modified
to carry a 100-inch diameter telescope
that uses eight instruments to study the
universe at infrared wavelengths that
cannot be detected from ground-based
observatories. Cycle 5 provides 455
research hours to U.S. programs and 80
hours to German programs.
“Four very highly rated programs were
selected to investigate the galactic
center region using the upGREAT high-
resolution far-infrared spectrometer,”
said Harold Yorke SOFIA Science Mission
Director of the Universities Space
Research Association.
“Three of those programs are aimed at
understanding the Central Molecular
Zone, a vast, turbulent region encircling
the Milky Way’s nucleus that contains a
large fraction of the galaxy’s dense
molecular clouds and star forming
regions, Yorke explained. “The fourth
program is focused on material
surrounding, and perhaps feeding into,
the supermassive black hole at the very
heart of our galaxy.”
To study celestial objects that are best
viewed from the Southern Hemisphere,
planning is underway for an eight-week
deployment to Christchurch, New
Zealand, from late June to late August
2017, employing three instruments: the
spectrometer known as the upgraded
German Receiver for Astronomy at
Terahertz Frequencies, or upGREAT, The
Faint Object infraRed Camera for the
SOFIA Telescope, or FORCAST, a
combined mid-infrared camera and
spectrometer, and the Far Infrared Field-
Imaging Line Spectrometer, or FIFI-LS , a
far-infrared imaging spectrometer.
Closer to home, the Echelon-Cross-
Echelle Spectrograph, or EXES, a mid-
infrared spectrometer, will take
advantage of that instrument’s great
sensitivity and high spectral resolution to
make an ambitious search for previously
unobserved molecules in the Orion star
forming region, looking for rare molecular
species like acetylene, ethylene, and
ethane. These observations will provide
information about the production of
organic compounds and water in a region
where stars and planets are currently
forming.
SOFIA’s High-resolution Airborne
Wideband Camera-plus, known as HAWC
+, a far-infrared polarimeter camera, now
being commissioned, is slated for a joint
project with the most powerful telescope
on Earth, the Atacama Large Millimeter/
submillimeter Array, ALMA, to
understand how the galaxy’s magnetic
fields resist the collapse of gas clouds
that form stars thereby affecting the star
formation process.
A challenging planetary science
investigation will use SOFIA to observe
Triton when it passes in front of a bright
background star in October 2017. This
would require a mini-deployment to the
U.S. East Coast where the shadow of
Triton will briefly be cast, allowing a look
at that moon’s thin atmosphere.
“This project is quite comparable to
SOFIA’s study of Pluto and its
atmosphere during a stellar occultation
observed from near New Zealand in
2015, and in fact was proposed by the
same investigator team,” Yorke said.
“This type of research demonstrates the
virtues of a mobile observatory that can
go wherever on Earth is required to view
transient celestial phenomena.”
SOFIA’s ability to change instruments
and adapt new technologies enables the
rapid development and deployment of
new sensors. To that end, NASA plans to
solicit proposals for SOFIA’s next
generation instrumentation in 2017.
SOFIA is a joint project of NASA and the
German Aerospace Center, DLR. NASA’s
Ames Research Center in California’s
Silicon Valley manages the SOFIA
program along with science and mission
operations in cooperation with the
Universities Space Research Association
headquartered in Columbia, Maryland,
and the German SOFIA Institute (DSI) at
the University of Stuttgart. The aircraft
is based at NASA Armstrong Flight
Research Center's Hangar 703, in
Palmdale, California.

STATEMENT
BY H.E MUHAMMADU BUHARI
PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
AT
THE 22ND SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE OF PARTIES TO THE UNITED NATIONS FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE, THE TWELFTH SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES SERVING AS THE MEETING OF THE PARTIES TO THE KYOTO PROTOCOL AND THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES TO THE CONVENTION SERVING AS THE MEETING OF THE PARTIES TO THE PARIS AGREEMENT
MARRAKECH, MOROCCO, 15 NOVEMBER 2016
Mr. President,
On behalf of the Nigerian delegation, I congratulate your Excellency on your election as the President of the 22nd session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and assure you of our full support as you lead our deliberations.
2. May I also express profound appreciation to His Majesty, King Mohammed the Sixth, the Government and people of Morocco for the warm hospitality accorded us since our arrival in this magnificent city of Marrakech and for the excellent arrangements put in place to facilitate our work for this important conference.
3. We have reflected our determination for green growth in my country’s ambitious Intended Nationally Determined Contribution. We have also announced our plans to reduce emissions by 20% by the year 2030, with the intention of raising this target to 45%, with the support of the international community. This is one of Africa’s most ambitious Intended Nationally Determined Contributions – covering all emissions from all parts of the economy.
4. This commitment comes from the recognition of the grave social, economic and environmental threats that climate change poses to humanity. In Nigeria for example, the impact is being felt by more than 2.1 million people displaced by devastating floods that the country has continued to suffer since 2012. If not addressed by 2050, the human and financial cost would be colossal. For us in Nigeria, the larger dimension of the challenge goes beyond emission rights. Survival rights are also at stake.
5. At the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, we were reminded, and we indeed agreed that climate threats and security threats go hand-in-hand. We cannot deal with one without dealing with the other. Both are global problems that demand global solutions.
6. The Lake Chad Basin for example, has shrunk to a mere 10% of its original size, and this has seriously affected the livelihood of over 5 million people and contributed in the growth of insecurity in the region, including the emergence of Boko Haram as a terrorist group. Hence the urgent need to resuscitate Lake Chad. In this regard, I seize this opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation to those who have responded to our call and to encourage other well meaning partners to join in our efforts to revive the Lake Chad Basin.
Mr. President,
7. We welcome the entry into force of the Paris Agreement on 4th November 2016 and hope that the implementation phase would avail all of us a historic opportunity to re-orientate our economies, to build inclusive, sustainable societies that respond to climate change and support Sustainable Development Goals.
8. In Nigeria, we are launching a strategic plan for the implementation of our Intended Nationally Determined Contributions and we have equally embraced the issuance of green bonds as an innovative means and alternative way of raising climate finance both locally and internationally. We cannot afford to wait until 2020. We are already making far reaching changes to all sectors of our economy including through:
Substantially increasing the use of climate smart agriculture
Diversification of our energy mix through renewable and efficient gas power
Creating a more efficient, cleaner and lower-carbon oil and gas sector especially through a gas to energy programme
Initiated the implementation of the clean-up of the Ogoni-Land in the Niger-Delta region
9. We believe that pursuing these programmes will not only reduce emissions and improve climate resilience; but also stimulate growth and economic opportunities in the private sector. Our goal is to make Nigeria one of the world’s best examples of how reducing emissions can benefit the environment and economy.
10. However, we cannot do this alone. Addressing climate change is a shared responsibility as its negative impacts are universal. We, therefore, stand ready to engage in meaningful partnerships to tackle the menace, and call on our neighbors and developing partners to fulfill their financial obligations in support of efforts to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.
Mr. President,
11. The onus must now be on us as political leaders, to recommit ourselves to the achievement of the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement that we collectively signed in 2015 for the benefit of this and future generations. Nigeria has submitted its instrument of ratification for the new global agenda on climate change. We urge others to do the same in order to make the world a safe place.
12. I thank you.
Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki to rebuild Benin Technical College.
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has declared the resolve of his administration to rebuild Benin Technical College for the training of skilled technical manpower and job creation for the fulfillment of his campaign promise.
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki made the disclosure on Monday In Benin City when he led a high profile delegation of the Executive arm of Government on an inspection of the Benin Technical College, Benin City for an on-the-spot assessment of the condition of the school and the facilities therein.
Not pleased with the condition of the school he said, “Look at what we have. It’s unacceptable” and he resolved, “We will have to take a very drastic measures in the next few weeks. We have to rebuild this institution and we have to bring it up to standard so that it becomes the basis for training technical manpower we need to drive our industrial revolution in the state.”
Governor Obaseki, who was accompanied on the facility tour by the State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Barr. Osarodion Ogie and the Chief of Staff, Edo State Government, Taiwo Akerele, spoke further, “Well, in our election promise, you recall, we said emphasizes was going to be on jobs. And to create jobs, you have to have facilities and institutions where you train people on practical knowledge on how to create work and create things and that is why we felt that the first point of call should be to find out what happened to our technical college which is supposed to be the institution to train skilled technical man-power and I’m sure, you will agree with me, that this is pitiable. It’s really really sad.”
According to the Governor, “If you could see the quality of the infrastructure that was built 40 years ago, two of these institutions were donated by the Canadian Government to two African countries 40 years ago. If you look at the equivalent of this institution in Tanzania, it is producing highly qualified technical manpower in that country.”
He told the Principal of the School, Mrs Bose Imafidon, who conducted the Governor and his entourage round the school, to submit the survey plan of the property the school has through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education to the Governor’s Office Government House, Benin City on Tuesday at 10am. Places inspected are the technical session, Junior Secondary School and its extension, wielding and technical workshop, which accommodates various machines and other equipment.
Also inspected were the Radio and Television, Electrical, Information and Communication workshops as well as staff quarters and the swimming pool, its pavilion and dressing room which were already over-grown by weeds.
The inspection revealed wide-spread dilapidation of infrastructure and technical facilities in the school.

Fed Govt: 1,459mw coming from 20 plants
The Federal Government plan additional 1459MW from 20 power plants to the national grid next year to bring power generation above 6,000Mw.
Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, who stated this at the weekend, said despite the 3,000 megawatts (MW) lost to gas pipeline vandalism, power generation peaked at 4,010 MW as at November 5.
Fashola spoke at the weekend while giving account of his one year stewardship.
He said 37 federal universities and seven teaching hospitals would get 120 MW from 37 independent gas and solar power plants to begin the fulfilment of the constitutional requirement of rural electrification
“In addition to transmission, we are working to complete uncompleted power generation projects. Some of the projects that should start coming to conclusion in 2017 are the 215 MW Kaduna Power, 40 MW Kashimbilla Power (Hydro), 40 MW Gurara I Power (Hydro), 29 MW Dadin Kowa Power (Hydro), 10 MW Katsina Power (Wind) 1,125 MW (14 Solar projects) and the 240 MW Emergency Power Project for Afam (Gas).
“Egbin has restored all its turbines even though it has suffered a gas outage as a result of vandalisation. Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro have increased the number of functional turbines, so they are producing 300 MW extra power during this year’s rainy season, more than they did last year,” Fashola said.
He explained that the second anchor of the ministry’s Rural Electrification Implementation programme would involve the use of small hydro dams to support agriculture and agro processing by providing power.
The ministry, he added, had also done the audits and planning of all the schools in rural areas to benefit from the programme.
“All of these sources of power, with embedded power from Paras Energy 40 MW gas in Lagos, the expected completion of Azura power in Edo, expected gas supply to Ihorbor Gas power plant, Gegeru power, Olorunsogo, Omotosho, Gbarain and others make me hopeful that we can get incremental power,” Fashola said.
On roads, he said the federal government would fix 42 bridges across the country with N277 billion in three years, if the national assembly’s approval is secured.
The minister explained that although construction of houses had not begun, 27 states had already donated land for federal housing schemes and over 500 contracts were ready to be issued for work to begin.
The government, he added, inherited about 206 road projects already contracted out with outstanding completion costs of N1.5 trillion, while the works’ ministry’s share of the 2016 appropriation was N260 billion.
Fashola said: “Our interactions with contractors showed that many of them had not been paid for an average of two to three years before we resumed and this explained the stoppage of work by the contractors, the layoff of workers, and consequently poor condition of many roads.”
He stated that with limited resources and debts owed, the ministry had to choose which of the 206 roads were more urgent and more impactful than others.
“So, our choices were determined by roads that carried the heaviest cargo, to allow farmers, businessmen, industries and travellers move their goods and themselves across the country in order to drive productive activity.
“Secondly, we chose roads that support our energy sufficiency and put our resources in roads leading to and from petroleum tank farms so that we can move petro, diesel and kerosene across Nigeria.
“We also chose roads that led to and from our major sea and airports so that maritime business can go on, to drive the economy. Therefore, we re-mobilized contractors back to work on roads across the six geo-political zones,” Fashola said.
He listed the roads to include the Port Harcourt- Aba, Sokoto – Tambuwal – Makera-Kontagara, Ilorin-Jebba, Loko-Oweto Bridge, Shagamu- Ibadan, Shagamu – Lagos and the Ogbomosho-Oko-Ilogbo-Osogbo roads.
Others are the Funtua-Katsina , Wukari-Akwana , Abriba-Arochukwu – Ohafia, Abuja – Lokoja – Airport, Oji-Achi-Obeagu-Mmaku-Awgu-Ndeaboh-Mpu-Okpanku , Ajase Ipo-Offa- Erinle-Osun State boundary and Ikot Ekpene border- Aba-Owerri dualisation.
Fashola added: “We also paid consultants who are supervising these roads and had been denied payment for two to three years. This has helped to recover lost jobs, and put some money back in circulation.”
He said the authority of states controllers of works would be restored to so as to enhance maintenance of the roads “and gradually restore our highways to contemporary quality.”
The minister explained that next year’s budget would pay attention to roads that lead to and from major food producing states, those in states that produce minerals from mining activity or where there are strategic fuel depots.
For housing, he noted that simple designs of one, two and three-bedroom bungalows had been completed which reflect cultural, climatic and land use peculiarities of the northern and southern states.
“We have also identified inputs like doors, windows, tiles, paint, roofing materials that can be made locally and we have resolved to use only made in Nigeria inputs unless there is no local production capacity,” Fashola..........BABATUNDE FASHOLA IS CURRENTLY ACTING IN A TRIPARTITE CAPACITY MANAGING THREE MINISTRIES

BREWING TENSION AMONGST NORTHERN MUSLIMS
Pilgrims must walk through three rooms, a
foyer and a 200-metre-long corridor before
accessing the dimly-lit chamber where Usman
dan Fodio and two of his sons are buried in
Sokoto, northern Nigeria.
Old women sit against the plastered white
mud walls begging for money. Inside the tomb,
more than a dozen visitors sit with their palms
cupped and lifted upwards in prayer, seeking
dan Fodio’s blessing.
Textile trader Sammani Yusuf is one of them.
He drove more than 500 kilometres (300 miles)
from the city of Kano to visit the graves and
ask for his bed-ridden mother to get better and
his business to pick up.
“Allah is everywhere but tombs of saints have
sacred status and one’s prayers are more
readily answered by Allah through their
intercession,” Yusuf told AFP.
“I’m very optimistic that Allah will grant my
needs by the sacredness of the saint lying in
this tomb,” he added.
Asma’u Lawwali believes her prayers for a
child were granted on a previous visit to the
tomb of dan Fodio, also called “Shehu.”
“I’m here with more requests to God through
Shehu’s intercession and I’m confident they
will be granted in the same way my request
for a child was answered,” she said.
Tour guide Isa Abubakar said Yusuf and
Lawwali were not alone in their conviction.
“Any person you see here has come for dan
Fodio’s intercession,” Abubakar said. “By his
sanctity, when you pray to Allah (at the tomb)
your request is granted.”
– Revered figure –
Usman dan Fodio is one of the most famous
names in Nigerian history — a fact borne out
by the steady stream of visitors who still flock
to his final resting place in the heart of the
ancient city.
Nigeria’s Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo cited
dan Fodio in a recent speech, saying his
condemnation of corruption and extremism
were still relevant today.
Two centuries ago, the reformist scholar, who
is considered a saint by many in Nigeria and
West Africa, declared jihad or holy war against
tyrannical local rulers in the Muslim-majority
region in 1804.
The result was the creation of an Islamic state
— the Sokoto Caliphate — which covered most
of modern-day northern Nigeria and parts of
neighbouring Niger and Cameroon.
Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the radical
Islamist group Boko Haram, whose insurgency
has devastated northeast Nigeria in the last
seven years, has name-checked dan Fodio in
several of his messages.
Shekau himself declared a caliphate in 2014
after his fighters captured swathes of territory
in the region.
But the comparisons end there.
And despite reverence for dan Fodio himself,
pilgrimages to his tomb have come under
attack from religious conservatives, in a sign
of the complex mix of Islamic ideologies and
affiliations in the region.
Nigeria’s north is mainly Muslim and
predominantly Sunni but there have been
increasing tensions in recent months with
minority Shiites.
– Ideological tensions –
The conservative Wahhabist ideology, which is
dominant in Saudi Arabia, made inroads in
northern Nigeria in the early 1980s. Until then,
it had been dominated by the mystical Sufi
tradition.
Prayers to dead saints and visits to their
tombs were condemned as polytheism and
idolatry.
In Sokoto itself, the Saudi-funded World
Islamic League set up an office to propagate
its views, putting itself at odds with those who
revere dan Fodio in the Sufi tradition.
“Some people try to refute intercession but
such claim is false because intercession has
theological basis in Islam,” said the tomb
guide Abubakar.
His colleague, Muazu Abdurrahman, added:
“They frown at intercession with the Prophet
(Mohammed) at his tomb in Medina and it is
no surprise if they say the same or worse
about Shehu’s.”
In 2012, Al-Qaeda-linked Islamists destroyed
the tombs of Muslim saints in Timbuktu, in
northern Mali, condemning them as idols in
line with their ultra-conservative Salafist
beliefs.
Abdurrahman, however, ruled out similar
destruction in Sokoto given dan Fodio’s status
as “an Islamic scholar of repute and a saint…
a reformer who fought to establish pure Islam
and justice.”
“This is why he is revered even by those who
are vehemently opposed to visiting his tomb,”
he said.
“Yes, we also have elements who share Al-
Qaeda beliefs like Boko Haram, which also
disapproves of visits to tombs for blessings.
“But it is unthinkable they will try to replicate
what their peers did in Timbuktu.”
